The Home Block was the first planting of vines at the Myrtle Point property in 1995. Positioned on a limestone bluff high above the Mitchell River, the Home Block consistently produces Chardonnay of concentration and power.
“Highly varietal and highly delicious. Pear, apple and steely stonefruit characters burst onto the palate and swing persistently through the finish. Juicy flavour aplenty, and length to impress”. 93 Points, Cambell Mattinson, The Wine Front 2019.
Grapes picked, pressed and juice run directly into barrels for fermentation on full solids. 10 Month maturation on lees in French Oak, 30% new.
“Halliday’s Top 100 wines of the year”
“Hand-picked, pressed straight to French oak (30% new) for fermentation on full solids, matured for 10 months, 146 dozen made. The depth, intensity and length of the fruits are utterly exceptional, throwing down the gauntlet at the feet of top class Yarra chardonnay. The grapefruit component is mouthwatering, drawing saliva from the mouth, crunchy acidity an ally. Will be very long lived. 97 Points. James Halliday, 2018 Wine Companion.
“In quite superb form. One sip and you know you’re onto something special. Fleshy, almost pulpy stonefruit, grapefruit, milk power and cedar spice. A subtle infusion of woodsmoke. It’s enchanting. Entrancing. A true delight”. 95 Points. Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, March 2017.
