The Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz labels exclusively feature the artworks of Australia’s Aboriginal artists, including artworks from a number of Aboriginal artists based in the remote and spectacular Western Australia Kimberley region.
An abundance of bursting blackcurrants, boysenberries and mulberries glide between sweet and toasted spices of black cardamom, cinnamon quill and nutmeg. Offset are perfumed notes of violets, anise, dark chocolate, camphor and Sichuan peppercorns. The palate is finely poised, yet with a generous mid palate weight. Vibrant and opulent black and blue fruits mesh with dried cranberries, caramel and cocoa notes. The tannins are tactile and structural providing direction and length.
Reviews and Accolades
96/100 – “Interesting combination of predominantly shiraz plus five per cent malbec and a dollop of viognier. Aromas are quite beautiful, with cherry scents and a touch of floral apricot pith. One of the finest shiraz from Leeuwin, displaying complexity at another level. A hint of cracked pepper and licorice adds to the complexity. Outstanding. ” – Ray Jordan, The Weekend West Magazine, 20 April 2019
93/100 – “Deep, bright purple/red colour with a intense, fresh, bright blackberry, spice, star anise aroma, and the palate is rich and fruit-sweet, charming and elegant as well as intense and flavoursome. It’s superbly balanced and very attractively flavoured. A very smart shiraz.” – Huon Hooke, The Real Review, April 2019
