Mr Mick Riesling has lemon pith, lime and orange blossom aromas and flavours, made in the classic Australian style with just a touch of fruit sweetness to balance the fresh natural acidity. It is a pristine wine with generous length of fruit flavour.
Created by Tim Adams to honour his late mentor, Mick Knappstein, who gave Tim his first wine job as a cellar hand at Leasingham Winery in 1975. “We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to resurrect this beautiful and historic landmark property. I began my winemaking career at Leasingham under the tutorage of Mr Mick Knappstein, so this is more of a home-coming than a new venture. “Tim Adams, Decanter Magazine, January 2011.
Not only has Adams struck a label honouring Knappstein’s mentoring role, earlier this year he purchased the historic Leasingham winery from global wine giant Accolade Wines. To his great credit, Adams, who launched his eponymous label in 1987, never forgot the important break Knappstein gave him and the guidance he offered in helping to shape his career.
“One of Mick’s passions was to make wines for everyone to enjoy,” remembers Adams. “The Mr Mick range is a reflection of that philosophy. They are approachable and flavoursome wines with good regional and varietal definition.”
