The Cliff Block is planted on a limestone bluff high above the Mitchell River at the southern end of the Myrtle Point Vineyard. The exposed site is naturally low yielding and consistently produces Pinot Noir with great intensity and complexity.
Hand picked, gently destemmed into small open fermenters with 30% whole bunches, hand plunged twice daily. 10 Month French oak maturation, 30 % new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
“Very good depth to the colour; this has the potential to become wonderfully complex over the years to come. In the meantime, its intense black cherry fruit with a savoury fringe commands respect. This is already great, but hums with potential”. 95 Points, James Halliday, www.winecompanion.com.au
“Complex. Undergrowthy. Plenty of tangy fruit, sweet and sour, with beetroot and red cherry flavours adding both life and lift. Ample acidity but the fruit and overall complexity have it covered. Pinot character abounds. Chalky tannin seals the deal”. 92 Points. Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, March 2017.
