Halls Gap Estate Fallen Giants Vineyard Shiraz is a classic Grampians shiraz of understated richness. A nose of plum, cherry, forest earth and demi-glace, and a medium bodied, succulent palate, with fine tannins in harmonious balance. Improves with air.
Vivid crimson-purple hue; the wine is Grampians to the tips of its toes, black fruits subtly permeated with notes of pepper, liquorice and spice carried in a web of ultra- ne, but persistent, tannins.

Mid-weight cherry-plum flavours meet stringy herbs and black pepper. It has enough fruit to satisfy and enough savouriness to keep you interested. It should drink and mature well over the medium term and beyond. Still finding its feet but looks all the good.

Deep, bright purple/red colour. Lovely clean, ripe shiraz aroma, plums and spices, a hint of graphite; the palate full-bodied and gentle but firmly persuasive in its tannins. Excellent wine, with very good aging potential.

From our single vineyard planted in 1969 on the eastern slopes of the Grampians. A nice even year with little in the way of heat spikes in the region. The Shiraz was picked in early April, then fermented in traditional open fermenters with hand plunging twice a day. The wine was pressed off to barrel where it matured in French oak (20% new) for 18 months before bottling. Drinking well now but will also reward cellaring to 2022.
Halls Gap Estate was planted in 1969 on the eastern slopes of the Grampians ranges in Western Victoria. For a long time a grower for Seppelts and Penfolds, the vineyard was purchased by the late great Trevor Mast in the mid 1990’s and subsequently became a Mount Langi Ghiran vineyard.
In 2014 it was purchased by Aaron Drummond (half of Circe Wines) and a new chapter has begun. High elevation, old vines and ancient rocky soils have kept yields low but always delivered incredible quality. 23 acres under vine with a predominance of Shiraz, but a small paddock of old Riesling and Cabernet. The Single vineyard wines of the Estate are labelled Fallen Giants in reference to the dreamtime stories about the creation of the mountains.
