Bellvale Athena’s Vineyard Chardonnay is crisp and tightly structured, with a well defined balance between fruit – white peach and melon, with secondary characters and finely integrated spicy oak.
There is extraordinary length to the palate where rich concentration is balanced by the fine acidity, producing a delicious wine.
The growing season was rather cool with some rain. Harvest was at the end of March, and the wine is crisp and fresh with layers of complexity showing notes of white peach and nectarine as a result. One is reminded once again why Chardonnay from a site with moderate climate can express such exquisite subtleties of flavour and texture.
