Single Vineyard Alan McCorkindale Syrah is harvested from the clay soils of the ‘Au Plein Soleil’ vineyard in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. This low yielding vineyard has a few vines of Viognier, which is co-fermented with the Syrah grapes in small vats.
Traditional northern Rhone Valley winemaking has created a New Zealand wine in an Old World style. This Syrah has a deep garnet colour and is a fragrant, sensuous wine, with aromas of blackberry, pepper, and plum, with subtle hints of violet.
The palate is focussed and concentrated, powerful, but graceful, with lithe tannins, balance and a very long finish.
